Calgary & Southern Alberta May Be Flooded
On Friday June 21st, 2013 the Bow & Elbow rivers overflowed into our communities and into our lives...
But, Our Spirits Aren't...
A state of emergency was declared in our fair city, with much of it underwater. Over 100,000 residents were evacuated, many businesses were not running. But here's the thing, this is Calgary, and we don't take "no" for an answer!
Shelters may have been set up for the displaced but they were hardly needed - the people of Calgary take care of their own. We all opened our doors and welcomed the evacuated in.
Businesses may have been down but if you are a client of Ci2 our dedicated teams made sure you were up and running as soon as humanly possible. Dedication is our currency right now. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help your business out.
The Calgary Drop in Centre, an amazing organization that shelters the homeless, had to evacuate also. They were able to get their charges to a new location but did not have time to take their supplies. Members of our team purchased and delivered supplies and contributed to a "grass roots" social media driven effort to notify others of the need.
The City of Calgary sent out a notice to her people looking for volunteers to help out - they had hoped about 1000 would turn up. Some estimates say over 6000 arrived!
Currently some of our staff members are organizing food and help for the families that are hit hard in the damaged areas. We are trying to help out.
Do what you can, pitch in & help to heal our city... Calgary, we are in this together!
