Canada's 1st Christmas

Our first Christmas observed in Canada was in 1535. Jacques Cartier and roughly 100 brave settlers were living in a small fortified enclosure on the St. Charles River near present-day Quebec. The settlers had arrived the summer prior and by now, during the harsh winter, were not finding it so merry. It is from these hardy people our present day Christmas and Country have come.
